Vijaydashmi in India

Vijaydashmi (Dusshera) was celebrated widely in India on Oct 12th 2005. It culminates the days of Durga Pooja and on this day the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkaran and Duryodhan are burnt.

The frevour with which it was earlier celebrated seems to have subsided with air pollution being on top of the minds of people. the Durga Pooja is now an opportunity to go to a fair and enjoy meals outside.
