Get to know the Code Camps!

Got to hear about Code Camps being conducted in US at: http://pacwest.ms/codecamp/pdx/1/

The tenets of "Code Camp" as per the site:
An original Code Camp organizer, Thom Robbins, wrote a six-point manifesto: Code Camps are (1) by and for the developer community; (2) always free; (3) community developed material; (4) no fluff – only code; (5) community ownership; and (6) never occur during working hours.

We have similar events in India called DevCons and subject related Days like - Architecture Day! What stands out in this event is the large participation of industry as speakers and attendees. An unofficial estimate puts the percentage of student attendees at these events at below 25%.

In India, the profile of attendees has largely been students (except HYD) and very less participation from industry.

IMHO, we should start to invite more people from industry to participate as speakers in these events. The attendees ergo will follow for sure!
